Over 450 children have shared their views on a pioneering ‘child first’ framework for West Yorkshire, placing children at the heart of decision making.
It puts an emphasis on meaningful collaboration, whether this be through co-production, co-design or consultation to ensure that our vision for the future aligns with our children’s.
This framework is for all professionals who make decisions that may impact the lives of children across the county, either directly or indirectly. This will involve everyone from executive officers to frontline workers.
The 2024 UK Youth Parliament Make Your Mark report indicated that the main concern for children and young people in Leeds was Crime and Safety. With participation and empowerment being one of the key pillars of Leeds Youth Service's vision for youth work, this gave us an exciting opportunity to try something new! We wanted to capture young people’s views on safety in an innovative, fun and engaging way – and PhotoVoice was born!
