Climate emergency and the creative and cultural sector

Learn what resources are available through SAIL to help you reduce your environmental impact.

SAIL is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to empowering the creative and cultural sector to take meaningful action on the climate emergency. Our mission is to unite organisations, individuals and networks to drive collective action and create a zero-carbon and zero-waste future. Through specialist support, tailored sustainability solutions, training, and a collaborative membership network, we help the sector reduce its environmental impact while supporting creativity and resilience.

What sustainable resources are on offer and where these can be found?

SAIL provides a range of sustainable resources, from expert consultancy to training, resource-sharing, and practical guides. We support individuals and organisations in taking meaningful action to the most accessible and effective way.

To make sustainability knowledge more accessible, we offer a free Membership Network, where individuals and organisations can access a wide range of sustainability tools and resources. Members can access free online training courses, such as ‘Introduction to Climate Change & Sustainability in the Creative and Cultural Sector’ and ‘Sustainable Events Management’. Additionally, members gain access to practical guides like the ‘Imagination to Action Guide’, which provides key principles for artists creating work related to climate change.

To stay informed on the latest sustainability developments, members can subscribe to SAIL’s Monthly Newsletter. Each edition includes sustainability news, members success stories, upcoming events and workshops, a jargon buster to simplify sustainability terms and funding opportunities for sustainable projects. The newsletter ensures members remain connected with new opportunities and initiatives within the creative and cultural sector.

Additionally, the Resource Hub is an online resource sharing platform designed to support a more circular and sustainable creative and cultural sector. Through this platform, users can donate, exchange, or source resource at little or no cost, helping to reduce waste and extend the life cycle of valuable materials. Signing up is free and open to all people who want to start sharing and sourcing materials within a growing network of like-minded individuals and organisations. The Resource Hub Handbook offers detailed instructions and valuable insights to help you navigate the platform with ease. It also includes guidelines for donating resources and collection services.

Which businesses can access the resources?

Our resources are available to all businesses, organisations and individuals with a specialised focus on the creative and cultural sector. Explore present and past partnerships and projects to see how we’ve supported businesses, individuals and organisations.
