We are currently recruiting two Inclusive Economy Managers across two high profile areas of work, Skills for Work and Life and Healthy Working Life.
Please note: This advert is for the Adult Skills role. You may wish to review the Healthy Working Life role advert to determine which position best matches your experience. Separate applications are required if you wish to apply for both.
The Adult skills team lead on the commissioning, policy development and implementation of approximately £80million of devolved and delegated regional funding for adult skills provision each year. The principal purpose of the devolved adult skills funding received by Combined Authority is to engage adults (post 19) and provide them with the skills needed for life, and for entering and sustaining work, an apprenticeship, or other further learning. Alongside basic skills entitlements, the fund provides employer-led technical and vocational training. This is to support people to enter and progress through careers and self-employment opportunities in West Yorkshire’s foundational and high-growth industries.
Through adult skills delivery we aim to halve the amount of people in West Yorkshire who do not have the basic skills for work, and to ensure everyone who wants one can access a level 3 qualification. This role is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Employment and Skills team, which aims to improve the impact that funding has on the lives and prospects of West Yorkshire residents and the economy. The team does this through system leadership, policy development, partnership development and strategic commissioning. This includes developing services which upskill adults, connects them to employment opportunities and supports career progression.
The role has a focus on an area of strategic importance for West Yorkshire, and you will be integral to the team who identifies and delivers change and transformation in order to deliver the Combined Authority’s ambitions to improve outcomes for individuals, communities and business.
You will innovate and performance manage adult skills delivery to achieve the greatest impact, with a focus on skills for work and life, and ensuring clear progression pathways that help residents thrive. Working towards an integrated settlement, this post will ensure programme design is evidence-based, delivery-focused, and holistically designed to tackle West Yorkshire’s employment and skills challenges. You will embed a continuous improvement cycle, ensuring provision and commissioning evolves through learning and pilot activity.
