We currently have a vacancy for a Policy Officer (Spatial Planning and Strategic Sites) to join our Place and Environment Policy team.
We are looking for an experienced spatial planner to work in the West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Spatial Planning and Strategic Sites Team. The Policy Officer role will support in the development and implementation of regional planning policy and strategies and with identifying a pipeline of strategic sites and regeneration schemes that contribute to the delivery of the West Yorkshire Plan. The role will include development of spatial planning policy, contributing to the emerging West Yorkshire Infrastructure Strategy (IS) and Spatial Development Strategy (SDS), undertaking research, analysis and project managing work streams.
You will have practical experience in a planning role, policy development and stakeholder engagement. This is an exciting opportunity to actively develop spatial policy delivering sustainable transport, affordable homes, unlocking economic growth and combating climate change.
The Place and Environment Policy Team form part of the Combined Authority’s Policing, Environment and Place Directorate.
The focus of the wider Place and Environment Team is policy and programme development to support sustainable growth and resilience across the region. Our activity aims to accelerate delivery and improve the quality of infrastructure and place making activities including transport, housing, employment sites, net zero and energy, climate resilience and environment, and urban design. Our activity supports a cross-boundary and cross-policy approach to infrastructure planning and delivery, seeking opportunities for cost and efficiency savings.
