Financed by money recovered from criminals under the Proceeds of Crime Act within West Yorkshire, the fund offers grants of up to £6000 to voluntary, community groups, charities and partners to provide support for innovative community safety projects.

Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin’s new £180,000 Mayor’s Safer Communities Fund closes for applications this week, Friday 17th December, at 12pm.
Launched in November, the fund is seeking applications from projects that address at least one of the cross-cutting themes within the draft Police and Crime Plan 2021-24. Those themes are:
Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire, said: “We’ve had a great response to this fund so far with some really worthwhile applications which is fantastic to see.
“However, I want to make absolutely sure that the funding opportunity reaches as far and wide as possible so I am asking everyone to please have a look and share it with anyone it could help.
“Grass root projects based in the heart of our communities carry out some of the most innovative and direct work targeting complex issues. Examples include providing diversionary activities for those at risk of offending, local road safety initiatives and improving safety for women and girls, to name but a few.
“Grants will be distributed to successful applicants at an awards evening in March 2022 and I look forward to meeting projects then.”
