Mayor's statement on energy price cap announcement

After Ofgem’s price cap announcement today (27 February), the Mayor of West Yorkshire Tracy Brabin has released the following statement. The Mayor said:

“Today’s announcement is horrifying for many households across West Yorkshire – we should be bringing bills down not pushing prices up. This winter we have already heard accounts of families having to choose between heating or eating, and many going without some essentials because of prices at record highs.

“The government must take action and keep the Energy Price Guarantee at £2,500, while resisting the urge to scrap vital support for household energy bills as prices remain at record levels and people are relying on this help. Otherwise, a further 90,000 households in West Yorkshire will be pushed into fuel poverty, and that is totally unacceptable.”
