Developed specifically to meet the needs of West Yorkshire textile businesses, graduates of the programme will be ready to start work in the industry or progress in their existing roles.

Eligibility: You must live in West Yorkshire and be aged 19 or older

Dates: From November 2025

Duration: 9 days over 16 weeks

Venue: Textile Centre of Excellence - The Old School New Hey Road, Outlane Huddersfield, West Yorkshire HD3 3YJ 

Course overview

The programme consists of 9 days’ training over 16 weeks, delivering 8 core modules that have been specifically designed by industry experts and textile manufacturing business leaders.

Course breakdown

Example of course delivery (subject to site visit changes): 

  • Day 1 – Natural manufactured & regenerated fibres. Site visit: Standard Wool & Lawton Yarns 
  • Day 2 - [Woollen] Carding, Spinning & Twisting Site visit: Brierley Brothers 
  • Day 3 - [Worsted] Combing, Drawing, Spinning & Twisting Site visit: WooltexUK. 
  • Day 4 - Winding, Warping & Weaving Site visit: Antich & Sons 
  • Day 5 – Textile Dyeing & Printing Site visit: Park Valley Dyers & Camira Fabrics
  • Day 6 – Textile Finishing Site visit: WT Johnson
  • Day 7 – Quality Management Systems, Testing and Standards. Site visit: AW Hainsworth
  • Day 8 – Textile Nonwovens Site visit: John Cotton Group
  • Day 9 – Textile Sustainability & New Technologies Site visit: Abraham Moon

What next?

On completion of the course, progression may be in existing roles in the Textile industry or to gain employment in the Textile Manufacturing industry.
