The Weaver Network will stitch the people and places of West Yorkshire together. Buses, trains, walking, wheeling, cycling and future transport modes will all operate one unified name and identity across all customer touchpoints, making it easier to travel across our region.
And the journey has started. From spring 2027, we’re bringing buses back under public control, where people’s needs, not profit, will be at the heart of our decision making. We’re also already making improvements to bus, cycle, walking and wheeling infrastructure, and looking at future transport modes in partnership with the people of West Yorkshire.
The Weaver Network will be easy to use, affordable and get you where you need to go, no matter how you choose to travel.
The Weaver Network promises a better-connected West Yorkshire. It shows our goal to build a modern, reliable transport network under one brand, with a fresh name and look.
This reflects the changes already happening - bringing buses back under public control, creating a new mass transit system, and linking bus, rail, cycling, walking, and wheeling. We aim to make journeys around the region seamless.
Good transport connects people to opportunities. These include education, jobs, enjoyment, or responding to emergencies. An effective network is key to making the most of life in our region.
The Weaver Network will give everyone equal and reliable access to transport. It will take people where they need to go, when they need to be there, helping them live their best possible lives.
You’ll start to see the Weaver Network branding appear across bus stops, shelters and stations in West Yorkshire. This will replace the WYMetro brand on a cost-effective repair and replace basis.
Heckmondwike will be the first bus station to open in the Weaver Network branding.
We’ll launch the Weaver Network website and mobile app, making it easier for you to plan journeys and purchase tickets. Weaver Network buses will start appearing on certain routes as we bring them under public control. We’ll expand this across the region throughout 2027. Our goal is a fully publicly controlled bus network by the end of 2028. Our new name will also show up at railway stations and along walking, wheeling, and cycling routes.
Weaver Network will continue to expand, bringing together bus, train, walking, wheeling, cycling and other future transport modes.
"The Weaver Network is my promise to you to deliver a better-connected West Yorkshire. It represents my ambition for a seamless, reliable transport network under one brand, with a new name and a new look.
Transport is integral to our region’s success and the Weaver Network is at the forefront of my plans to create a region that’s prosperous, well-connected, safe, inclusive, sustainable and happy – a place where everyone can thrive."
Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire
The look of the Weaver Network celebrates our textile heritage and the rich culture of our region. You'll find Sari prints, African wax prints, and Yorkshire tweeds, along with nods to great cultural icons like David Hockney, Barbara Hepworth, and Henry Moore.
But it’s not just about design. The Weaver Network will provide clarity, consistency, and confidence for everyone travelling in the region.
We play a key role in building better transport networks in West Yorkshire. We aim to improve bus, train, cycling, and walking services for everyone in our region.
