Hebden Bridge station works to begin

The Hebden Bridge car park scheme is one of 14 projects within West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s £31.5 million Rail Park and Ride Programme 

The redeveloped car park at Hebden Bridge train station will open to the public on Monday 11th July. With an additional 46 car parking spaces, the total capacity reaches 127 spaces, including 4 Blue Badge bays, and 3 motorbike spaces. 

Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin said: 

 “We want public transport and trains to be the first choice for travel in West Yorkshire – not because you do not have a car, but because they are more affordable, convenient to use, and better for the environment. 

 “It is more important than ever that we continue to invest in modern, accessible transport to support economic growth by connecting more people with jobs, training, and education, and through partnership working we can achieve this.  

 “We are working hard to enable West Yorkshire to be a net-zero carbon economy by 2038 at the latest. Projects like this one, at Hebden Bridge will help reduce congestion and improve local air quality.” 

 Cllr Susan Hinchcliffe, Chair of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority's Transport Committee said: 

 “I am delighted that the new facilities at Hebden Bridge are open and ready for business. 

 “The new car park facilities at Hebden Bridge are part of a plan to create up to 2,000 additional parking spaces at 14 stations across West Yorkshire, offering and encouraging more of the local community to use the rail network.   

“The scheme has been delivered by Northern Trains Ltd, working in partnership with West Yorkshire Combined Authority, Network Rail and Calderdale Council. The car park will be closed from the 8th to the 10th July, as final works take place. Mytholmroyd rail station car park has also recently been completed within the Rail Park & Ride Programme, creating 181 spaces including 10 blue badge bays."
