Mayor of West Yorkshire statement after meeting with Transport Secretary in Westminster

Mayor of West Yorkshire Tracy Brabin said:

"It was great to meet Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander today in Westminster to make the case for West Yorkshire in the upcoming Spending Review.

"This government understands that working with Mayors is key to the success of the growth mission, that will put more money in people's pockets.

"Transport holds the key to that, which means backing us to get spades in the ground on mass transit by 2028, as well as a new station in Bradford and extra capacity at Leeds which is the North’s busiest railway station.

"From rail reform to mass transit, we’ll improve connectivity and create opportunity."
