Communities are being given the opportunity to shape the response to serious violence across West Yorkshire.
Mayor Tracy Brabin has today launched a major consultation inviting people to share their views, experiences, ideas and solutions to help change lives #TellTracy.
It sees the opening of an online survey and a series of district-wide events which will help co-produce a new strategy dedicated to tackling serious violence.
From knife crime to gang culture and violence against women and girls, it aims to capture the full spectrum of associated issues.
“We’ve all seen the terrible consequences of serious violence in our communities.
“That’s why tackling this issue is one of my top priorities, but we can’t do it alone. We need your voice to bring about change.
“Your opinion matters. Together we can build a safer, brighter future for West Yorkshire.”
The Government’s safer streets mission to halve knife crime and violence against women and girls will form a crucial part of this work and communities will be able to decide upon other priorities.
Since becoming Mayor in 2021, Tracy Brabin and her Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime Alison Lowe have:
“We know from our ongoing engagement that this is something people want to see action on.
“Working shoulder-to-shoulder with our local communities we can achieve meaningful solutions that reflect their experience.
“No-one understands the challenges and strengths of your area better than you do – and that’s why your voice is essential to the development of this strategy.”
Your Voice: Take part in our survey, share your views and find event details.
