“If we see it and ignore it, it will only continue to happen- the standard that we walk past, is the standard we accept.”
Online ‘Active Bystander’ training sessions are being offered free of charge across each of the five Districts.
The concept delivers practical strategies to support and challenge others in difficult situations.
Each event runs from 7pm and 9pm:-
“These are highly interactive workshops, which explore the role of personal leadership and community in preventing abuse and harm.
“The default can often be to ignore, walk away, or remain silent, even when it is a friend, family or neighbour that is involved or impacted.
“By providing the right skills and knowledge to safely manage a situation, we can influence behaviours and promote a positive culture within the region.”
“This work really complements our ongoing efforts to support local communities, particularly when it comes to the safety of women and girls.
“They are often those most affected by inappropriate or harmful behaviour and these local allies provide that added confidence and assurance.
“If we see it and ignore it, it will only continue to happen- the standard that we walk past is the standard we accept. So please consider taking up this fantastic opportunity to ensure West Yorkshire remains safe, just, and inclusive.”
Places are limited and allocated on a first come, first served basis.
