The Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin, has today signed the Armed Forces Covenant on behalf of West Yorkshire Combined Authority. The Mayor spoke to staff at Wellington House in Leeds, where she told the team:
“The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise to the nation, that those who serve or have served, and their families, are treated fairly. By signing the Covenant, West Yorkshire Combined Authority confirms that we will uphold its principles by continuing to build links with local military communities. What this means for us, is in our communications, both to staff and to external audiences we will promote that we are an Armed Forces-friendly organisation. We will also commit to supporting national events such as Armed Forces Day, Reserves Day, the Poppy Appeal Day and Remembrance activities where possible.
It gives me great pleasure to be signing this Covenant today and I look forward to working more closely with Armed Forces charities in the future to raise awareness throughout West Yorkshire.”
