Domestic Abuse Specialist role- up to 37.5h per week over a variable working pattern Monday to Sunday. £33,000 FTE per annum. 12-months fixed term initially, based in Wakefield.
About the role:
The postholder works alongside police officers and staff to improve the response to victims/survivors of domestic abuse. The primary function of the role is to support call handlers officers and control room staff to ensure risk is correctly identified and victims are appropriately safeguarded.
The role is primarily desk based and includes listening to domestic abuse calls reviewing police risk assessments and providing operational advice based on police systems and professional expertise.
The postholder plays a key role in upskilling police staff promoting best practice and ensuring consistent trauma informed victim centred approaches within the CCC environment.
About you
Our ideal candidate will have a recognised domestic abuse qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant field and experience of multi-agency working including MARAC processes and police or criminal justice agencies. We are looking for someone who has an in-depth understanding of violence against women and girls with knowledge of safeguarding practices and legislation, as well as risk and need assessment and safety planning.
You will need to be able to analyse complex and sensitive information and provide clear, evidence-based professional advice within a fast-paced service.
