West Yorkshire’s Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, Alison Lowe OBE said:

“As the mother of two gay children, international day against homophobia, transphobia and biphobia resonates very personally.

“I know more than most the impact of negative behaviours towards individuals and communities, and I will stop at nothing in raising awareness.

“I am fortunate to be one of the national diversity leads in policing and I will be using my voice to champion inclusivity at every opportunity.

“It is also one of the Mayor’s key manifesto pledges, and today affords the perfect platform to highlight our collective achievements.

“Let’s celebrate the progress we have made in changing perceptions and challenging those misguided attitudes.

“There is still much more to do, but I know West Yorkshire can continue to lead from the front.”
