We first met Simon in November 2023 at a progression event, where he was focusing on improving his mental health after a long period out of work.
After a successful career in engineering, health issues meant he could no longer return to that role. Unsure what to do next, Simon began exploring his options with support from our team.
At that point, he decided to focus on rebuilding his confidence and updating his skills through Adult Learning courses.
Simon reconnected with us in May 2025, ready to start applying for jobs. With support from the West Yorkshire Combined Authority's Employment West Yorkshire program, we helped him:
In July 2025, Simon applied for a technical training mentor role at a local FE college. With tailored interview preparation, he was able to confidently demonstrate both his technical expertise and his experience supporting others.
Simon was successfully offered the role and started in August 2025. He is now enjoying a job that uses his skills while supporting his health and wellbeing.
