Our Transport Policy and Delivery teams are working to improve how people travel across the region — making journeys easier, greener, and more reliable. We create long-term strategies, plan major projects, and collaborate with partners to bring them to life.
By 2040, we want West Yorkshire to have:
A transport system that’s sustainable and accessible to everyone
Affordable and reliable buses, trains, and mass transit
Streets that support walking and cycling for short trips, with less need for cars
Over the next five years, more than £1 billion will be invested to deliver improvements, alongside the launch of a new Local Transport Plan shaped with local people, for local people.
On this page you can hear directly from our colleagues through videos and testimonials, sharing what it’s like to be part of a team, about the projects they’re working on, and the difference better transport can make for communities across West Yorkshire.

Caige is a Policy Coordinator in the Bus Policy team at the Combined Authority, where he works on bus reform. His role involves engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, from operators to offices across the five districts of West Yorkshire.
The Combined Authority is a brilliant workplace. Everyone is made to feel welcome and all opinions and ideas are heard and considered as part of the wider team, no matter what level you work at.
I am motivated by knowing that our work can make a genuine, positive difference to peoples’ lives and opportunities, as well as help reduce the impact on our environment.
