All participants have faced challenges with mainstream schooling. Many also deal with difficult home lives or complex social and emotional needs.
The project aimed to help young people understand their options after Year 11. It worked on boosting their motivation and confidence for education, employment or training.
We organised workshops and activities to prepare for a Careers Event and Workplace Visits with BAM Nuttall, Leeds Bradford Airport, and Jet2. Feedback from students and teachers showed they engaged well with the programme. It helped them think about their next steps. We'll monitor their final destinations in October 2024 to see how many secured positive outcomes.
You were the most calm out of everyone in the room when working under pressure. If you're going into the army, that's the thing that you're going to say at an interview. We saw the change in his face, as he realised WHY we were doing this work. He proceeded to write three really articulate statements where he could see the relevance to where he was going.
