These are the terms and conditions of the Calder Vision Zero Poster Competition. Please read these Terms carefully, as by entering the Competition, you agree to be bound by these Terms. We recommend that you print and store or save a copy of these Terms for future reference.
1.Definitions
1.1 In these Terms, unless the context otherwise requires:
Adult: any parent or legal guardian with authority to consent on behalf of the Entrant of this Competition. Third party Adults may include teachers. Adults must be aged 18 or over.
Competition: the Calderdale Vision Zero Poster Competition as part of the Event.
Entrant: a person aged 18 or under who is entering this Competition
Event: Calderdale Vision Zero Annual Event held at People’s Park, Halifax on 13 August 2026.
Prize: the Prize awarded to the winner of this Competition, as described at clause 4
Promoter: The Borough Council of Calderdale

2. Eligibility
2.1 The Competition is open to young people aged 18 and under who live or attend school in the Calderdale area.
2.2 Competition judges and their immediate families are ineligible to enter the Competition.
3. How to Enter
3.1 Each Entrant must enter the Competition via their Adult. Entries should be submitted by the Adult via email or via post to Halifax Town Hall, Crossley Street, Halifax HX1 1UJ. The first name and age of the Entrant must be clearly displayed on the entry, along with the theme/category of the entry.
3.2 The Competition starts on 8 July 2026 and all entries must be received by 17:00 on Sunday 9 August 2026.
3.3 The entries will be judged by a panel of Calderdale Council judges.
3.4 Participants will not be required to pay to enter the Competition.
4. Prize
4.1 The winners of each category will be selected by the Promoter on 11 August 2026, and the winners will be notified on or after this date.
4.2 Prizes can be collected at the Event or winners can arrange to collect their prize from the Halifax Town Hall no more than 7 (seven) days after they have been notified. If Entrants fail to respond within 7 (seven) days of notification, they will forfeit their right to the Prize.
4.3 The Prize will be rewarded as follows: 1st Prize in each of the 7 categories: £20 Halifax Gift Card.
4.4 Prizes are non-negotiable, non-transferable and non-refundable. No cash alternative is available. Where a Prize becomes unavailable for any reason, the promoter reserves the right to substitute that Prize for a prize of equal or higher value.
5. Parental/Guardian Consent / Safeguarding
5.1 Entrants may participate in the Competition only with the consent of an Adult and all entries must be submitted by an Adult on behalf of the Entrant. When an entry is submitted by a third-party Adult (e.g. a teacher), prior to submission and on behalf of the Entrant, the party submitting the entry shall be responsible for:
- obtaining parental consent; and
- providing a copy of the Terms to the parent/guardian to ensure the Entrants compliance with the Terms.
5.2 By taking part in the Competition, the Adults agree that the Entrants’ first name and age may be posted on the Promoter’s social media profiles, after the winner has been selected.
6. Liability
6.1 The Promoter will not be held liable for any failure of receipt of entries. The Promoter takes no responsibility for any entries which are lost, delayed, illegible, corrupted, damaged, incomplete or otherwise invalid.
6.2 Whilst nothing in these Terms will limit the Promoter’s liability for death, personal injury caused by its negligence or for fraud, the Promoter will not be legally responsible to Entrants or winners for any losses that were not foreseeable to the Promoter or to the Entrants or winners at the time of entry to the Competition or which are caused by a third party.
6.3 The Promoter’s liability under or in connection with the Competition or these Terms shall be limited to the cost of the Prize in question.
6.4 To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Promoter shall not be liable under or in connection with these Terms, the Competition or any Prize for any indirect, special or consequential cost, expense, loss or damage suffered by a participant even if such cost, expense, loss or damage was reasonably foreseeable or might reasonably have been contemplated by the participant and the Promoter and whether arising from breach of contract, tort, negligence, breach of statutory duty or otherwise.
7. Intellectual Property
7.1 The Adult warrants that they have not used material that infringes a third parties intellectual property rights, and that the entry is original to the Entrant. The Promoter owns the copyright (and any other applicable intellectual property rights) in the entry, and in any modifications that may be made to it.
7.2 By submitting the entry and accepting these Terms, the Entrant assigns the copyright and all other applicable intellectual property rights (in both cases, currently existing and future) in their entry to the Promoter and the Entrant waives the moral rights (including the right to be identified as the author) in the entry.
8. Data protection
8.1 Information and data (Personal Data) which is provided by the Adult when entering the Competition will be held by the Promoter (and may be used by the Promoter) for the purpose of delivering the Competition including, but not limited to:
- the Adult’s name and contact details (e.g. email/phone number)
- the Entrant’s first name, and age
- the submitted poster
8.2 The Adult agrees that this includes, without limitation, that they may be contacted if there are any issues with the Competition that directly or indirectly involve them.
8.3 The Promoter will process any data in accordance with these Terms and the Notice below.
9. General
9.1 In the event of unforeseen circumstances beyond the Promoter’s reasonable control, the Promoter reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition or these Terms, either in whole or in part, with or without notice.
9.2 The Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to ask for evidence to verify the name, identity and/or eligibility of an Entrant at any time. The Promoter may withhold delivery of the Prize until such time as they have received sufficient evidence from the winner and failure to provide such evidence in a timely manner may result in forfeiture of the Prize.
10. Dispute Resolution
10.1 The Promoter's decision is final and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts only after you have tried to solve any dispute directly with the Promoter.
11. Jurisdiction
11.1 The Competition and these Terms are exclusively governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
