West Yorkshire Combined Authority confirms intent to award further bus contracts

The West Yorkshire Combined Authority has today confirmed its intent to award contracts to bus operators who have submitted tenders to operate the smaller contracts and school service contracts for Round One of its franchised network.
 
We can confirm that we intend to award smaller contracts for Weaver Network services to:

• Dewsbury area: Three contracts between The Yorkshire Traction Company and The Go-Ahead Group
• Huddersfield area: Four contracts between Transdev Blazefield, Tower Transit Operations and E Stott and Sons
• Leeds area: Two contracts between Tower Transit Operation and The Go-Ahead Group

We can confirm that we intend to award school service contracts to:

• Dewsbury area: Three contracts to The Go-Ahead Group
• Huddersfield area: One contract to E Stott and Sons
• Leeds area: Six contracts between Hunters Coaches, The Go-Ahead Group and Tetley’s Motor Services.

 
This follows a robust and competitive process carried out to the highest standards over the last 10 months.
 
We now enter a standstill period before contracts are officially signed on September 18 at the earliest. The procurement process remains subject to legal requirements.
 
The first Weaver Network services are due to launch in Spring 2027, with franchising introduced in phases across West Yorkshire through to the end of 2028.
 
We have not awarded five school service contracts as none of the bids were deemed acceptable. A full explanation along with feedback will be provided to the affected suppliers and the contracts will be re-procured in the Autumn.
