Huddersfield Bus Station

Our £28 million transformation of Huddersfield Bus Station is underway.

Delivery

What is the Huddersfield bus station project?

Work is underway on our £28 million transformation of Huddersfield Bus Station in partnership with Kirklees Council.

The new bus station is part of our commitment to deliver the Weaver Network – a unified transport system that will help create a happier, healthier, better-off West Yorkshire by connecting people with the places and opportunities that matter.

The bus station will remain open throughout but we’ll be moving bus services around. For the latest travel information visit wyweaver.com.

Huddersfield will be our third Weaver Network bus station in Kirklees with Heckmondwike and Dewsbury both set to open later this year.

Passengers at Huddersfield can look forward to better facilities and a more accessible, energy efficient and modern bus station designed to improve their journeys.

This will include:

  • Improved safety and security measures
  • Real-time bus and rail information screens to help with onward travel
  • A “Changing Places” accessible toilet with extra space and equipment to meet the needs of people with a range of disabilities and their carers, including a hoist and height adjustable changing bench
  • A new entrance canopy combining solar panels and a green roof with pollinator-friendly plants
  • Upgraded external shop fronts
  • Improvements to the public space around the bus station
  • Cycle parking

Construction work will continue until spring 2028.

How is this project funded?

This scheme is being delivered in partnership by the Combined Authority and Kirklees Council with funding from the UK Government.
