Tracy Brabin pays tribute to departing Calderdale Council leader Tim Swift

Under his leadership, Calderdale became the first council to pay the Living Wage and has been front and centre in tackling the climate emergency for the region. He helped to create a world-class concert venue, following the renovation of the Piece Hall. This year’s open-air music season has put Halifax on the musical map, selling more than 100,000 tickets.

But Tim is also a great champion for the region as a whole – his forensic approach to the mayoral deal helped secure our landmark devolution deal, worth more than £2.5 billion.

As chair of the integrated care board, he helped steer the region through extremely challenging times and I welcome his commitment to ensuring West Yorkshire is the happiest and healthiest region to live and work in.
