West Yorkshire receives new knife surrender bins

New knife surrender bins are being installed across West Yorkshire, giving residents a safe and anonymous way to dispose of knives and dangerous weapons. Funded by the Home Office, the initiative supports efforts to tackle knife crime and build safer communities across the region.

Four new knife surrender bins have been installed across West Yorkshire, giving people a secure way to hand in knives and other dangerous weapons. The scheme supports the work of the West Yorkshire Violence Reduction Partnership (VRP) and partners to prevent violence, reduce harm and create safer communities.

Funded by the Home Office, the bins operate on a "no questions asked" basis, allowing weapons to be surrendered safely and anonymously.

The new surrender bin locations are:

Calderdale: Wade Street (outside Royal Mail car park opposite bus station), Halifax, HX1 1SN
Kirklees: Dewsbury Town Hall (rear), WF12 8DG
Leeds: John Charles Centre for Sport (side of road), LS11 5DJ
Wakefield: Eastmoor Bus Terminus, Windhill Road, Eastmoor, WF1 4RR

Residents can find further information on surrender bin locations and guidance on how to safely transport and deposit weapons on GOV.UK. All weapons handed in through the scheme will be securely disposed of.
